One of the fun features of FarmVille (say that three time) is that there are an endless amount of choices for how you lay out your farm. Things can go here, they can go there, and you can even move or rearrange them as you go, if you find a better idea for where things belong. Every now and again, if you get bored with your farm, or if you find you wish you had done things differently, it's very easy to do so. It's a lot easier than lifting your couch or your bed.
But the importance of the layout of your farm is not about how it looks. Though it certain helps to have a cooler looking farm than your friends, and an interesting farm will keep you coming back, it's not the thing that you should be concerned with. Where you put your buildings and trees, where you choose to plow, and where you put your decorations and other doo dads has an impact on the overall success of your farm. Of course, you should choose a farm plan that you like looking at, but you need to consider the following things:
FarmVille Layout Tip #1 -- Leave proper space for your crops. You make most of your money off the crops you harvest, so make sure that you have plenty of space set aside for planting. Depending on how big your farm is, how much you leave for crops as a percentage will change, but it's important that don't make it so that you run out of room for your crops. Its usually a good idea to group your plowed land together, as it will make it easier on you when it comes time to harvest and plant them, and later on plow them, when you get farm equipment.
FarmVille Layout Tip #2 -- Animal placement. Animals are fun to have around, no one gets excited over their wheat, but gimme a fat pig any day. The problem is, they can take up a lot of space. If you want to have animals on your farm, but are also concerned about saving space, you should keep things that can be contained. For instance, keeping your chickens in a coop, or your cows in a dairy farm can help. Chickens and cows aren't the most valuable of the animals, especially individually, but if you keep them in a structure they can begin to add up. You harvest them all at once, and you can load them into the buildings.
FarmVille Layout Tip #3 -- What to do with trees. Trees are a good source of income, and don't take up a lot of space. If you are willing to put in the time to harvest them, you can get a lot of them into a pretty small amount of space. The only thing to watch for it to make sure that they don't get in the way of other things, such as your fields or your animals. It's too easy to accidentally lose space to a tree, which is why you mostly see people put them at the very edge of their farm. Putting them on the edges is the best way to have them look good, make you money, and not ruin your layout.
FarmVille Layout Tip #4 -- Building buildings. Constructing buildings is a good way to make it look like a farm. It also helps in other ways, as it gives you experience and will put you on your way to raising your farmer level. The problem is that you have a finite space to put the buildings in, so you need to be careful about when you buy them, and where you put them. You can construct them to get the experience points, and then resell them if you wish, but you lose money this way. Try to understand how much money you are getting from the building vs. how much room it takes up. Then decide what you want to do.
